My grandsons are four and seven, and both are a delight, and as different as east is from the west. They received a Nintendo Wii for Christmas, and Jonathan, ever the contemplative and thankful boy, asked to take a minute to pray and thank Jesus for Christmas. Augie, the four year old, said, upon opening the gift,
"Wow. I didn't think I was that good this year."
Meghan, being the mom of dry wit and keeping her boys grounded in reality, said,
"You weren't."
I have been thinking about what Augie said, a lot. Makes me wonder if when we get to Heaven, and meet the Lord face to face, if many of us will still not completely understand the concept of the gift of grace.
Will I fall at his feet and exclaim, "Wow, I didn't think I was THAT good!" To which God will answer,
"You weren't that good, but Jesus is."
I delight to know that I will be in His presence, worshiping the King of Kings for Eternity, because of the goodness of what Jesus did for me.

Lynne~I just noticed this part of your blog, so give me a bit of time to catch up and I will get back to you on all your writings...

Once again I read this about Christmas morning and thought about grace. Being in Heaven is all about grace, for as much as we can understand it on earth, i think. How can anyone possibly imagine a perfect place, even when we think of what is perfection here? When we are received in heaven, the only reason we are there is because we believe in Jesus Christ and His rising from the dead to bring us a full and eternal life. Not on merit or deed. It is like my pastor says over and over~we will be surprised by who is there in heaven and who is not. As Christians, we are left here to spread the gospel of Christ, lead the lost to Him. That is our primary job. No matter how good we are, we are never so good that we do not need the Lord! God is so much bigger than we are! It truly amazes me that as mere humans "we" think we can figure things out. I am thankful each day for our Saviour.
