I jumped right on that Green Gable Bandwagon, I'll tell you!
This is a fantastic sweater when you need an "I-must-knit-a-garment-fix." The lace bodice, the rounds and rounds of stockinette which you can knit in your car or in the dark... A perfect fit, adjustable to your body kind of pattern... Oh, it's lovely.
I used a great yarn which I had in my stash....
GGH Bali, which is a cotton/acrylic blend. It is lightweight, soft and very comfortable to wear. I would highly recommend it...and very reasonably priced for some good yardage. I used 4 balls, plus a bit of a fifth to do the size large on #6 needles. The only adjustments I made to the pattern were to shape the waist more by adding three more sets of decreases every six rounds, then, after 14 rounds even, I added three sets of increases.
Now, the best part is, I have four skeins of black GGH Bali left ( it was birthday yarn from my husband) which I can trade in for another color! I would knit another summer top with this yarn in a minute.
But, first, I am doing a tank...Ribby Tank, in fact. Just the other day, I was poking around Michael's and found six skeins of Patons Grace in the clearance bin! $2.00 a skein! And, it's perfect for the July Project Spectrum Color of the Month! I believe I'll cast on tonight!

The sweater looks absolutely fabulous! I love it :)

Lynne, Your Green Gables is beautiful and you look lovely modeling as usual. My Green Gables came off the needles and I am revamping the pattern to be a button-up. I just don't have the body for a tight fitting pullover anymore. :)

Well done! I'm so glad to see that Green Gables worked well for you; I keep hearing about size issues. I think you got it *just right*. That purply Patons Grace will make a lovely summer top, too!

Lynne you and your Green Gable are stunning! Go strut your stuff my friend!
Posted by: amanda | July 07, 2006 at 12:44 PM
thank you for putting up your yardage, I've had the pattern for ages but could never figure out how if I could knit a Picovoli with just over 600y I would need over 1,000 to knit the same size Green Gable! I even emailed the pattern writer but never got a reply... I can now cast on and know I won't run short or have a ton of yarn leftover!
