June Cleaver
There is a 93 year old woman who lives across the street. She recently had to go to a nursing facility, and her son has been cleaning out the house. Look what I got....
Straight out of the fifties, incredible cotton day dresses...and one awesome polka dot swing skirt evening dress that I still need to clean. They are in perfect condition, unpacked from an old suitcase like they have never been worn.
Aren't they amazing? They are everything June Cleaver, Donna Stone and Harriet Nelson...
I want to wear them. With heels and pearls even, and greet my husband at the door with a slice of chocolate cake and a big glass of milk. Hmmmm....this could get interesting.
Deep down inside, there is a little June Cleaver in all of us. Something appealing about a woman who will dress up to dust.

No, no, forget the chocolate cake. You greet him with a martini, darling.

Is it sad that when my high school guidance counselor asked me what I wanted to be when I grew up, all I could come up with was Donna Reed?

Glad that you are thrilled with then as I couldn't wait to get rid of mine. But I guess I would like a few aprons. You know me always dribbling on myself. Or maybe that is could bibs.haha

no dusting, but you could "look " like you're ready, and get one of those feather dusters in hand :-) yet I agree with Carole, greet him with a martini!

What great dresses! I love your blog, too, by the way! You are an excellent photographer. Those sunset pix from Aug. 12 just don't look REAL!! Incredible! The popcorn looks good, too :) yum!

Love them!
Honestly, I think they look more comfortable than the jeans I end up wearing every day. I'm much more of a light dress kind of gal.

Those dresses are so cool, I hope you do wear them.

Amen! Its a shame the 60's took that away from us. But we can bring it back. One dress at a time:D
Now you should model them for us, we would love a retro pic and don't forget the pearls!

People describe my 50's era house as a Leave it to Beaver home. You are welcome to wear your dress to visit anytime,

What treasures! Make sure to post photos of you wearing some of these pieces. I get lost in this era.

Yep can't forget the pearls and some red lipstick and a martini and you'd be all set! =)

I would like to try one on! Maybe the one on the far right end! I think it would be fun to be a June Cleaver- do I have to clean?

I used to have an old Betty Crocker cookbook. A quote from it was something like "A clever wife has a cool cocktail waiting for her husband when he gets home." My husband and I still laugh about that. :)
