Back to School

I am making gloves. Finally.  I wonder how many times over the past three years, I have written that goal on my blog...to learn how to make gloves.

Starting with the beautiful red Blue Sky Alpaca and Silk that Renee gifted me,

I cast on for the Vintage beaded gloves from Handknit Holidays. Glove

The pattern doesn't have a thumb gusset, but, who am I to question? I started knitting glove #1. After doing some Ravelry research, and then seeing with my own glove how wonky it fit without a thumb gusset, I set about to make some modifications.

Frogged them. The family at our Labor Day picnic were all surprised to see that I was so willing to rip out what I had knitted.  For me, it's about working through the stuff, and not just having a finished project. In school, I was  a good student, and it was about working through the stuff to have the best project I could complete.  So, I started over, and now, I am working in a thumb gusset.

100_7182  The little twisted cable pattern on the cuff is very pretty.

Wish me luck through this project... I have about four different patterns in front of me as I'm knitting, trying to work through  a step at a time, to knit the perfect gloves.

Always the student, right?

I'm It!

12:00 noon...the box arrives.  Dish Rag Tag, and I'm IT! Great bunch of goodies from Beth in Ohio.

Her dishcloth is very nice...  100_7175

The yarn she sent was beautiful, so at 12:30, I started.

100_7173  using a pattern from CeElle, which CeElle recommended, and is one of her free patterns. The Accidental Bobble Cloth.

I have anticipated this day for weeks, and have taken the pattern, and two sizes of needles to work with me every day. Funny thing is, I looked for my sevens and eights today, and lo and behold, I think I sent them in the Special Swap package to Deb!  Too many packages coming in and out this week! I settled for sixes, because my other sevens and eights were on projects!

JR and I had several errands to run this afternoon, so I knit in the car, knit in Target, knit in Pier One, knit in the parking lot of Lowe's, knit at Moe's Tacos and Burritos,  and by 5:00, the cloth was done! We dropped it off in our local post office on the way home.  Stinks, that because of the holiday weekend, there is no mail pickup, but at least it's on it's way to the next person.

I get home, and what do I find next to my computer?

The Very Important Card That Must Remain In The Team Box....with instructions in three places that the Card Must Remain In The Box.  I'll drop it in the mail tonight.

Emily created a good swap, that's for sure...now, Em, we need a sock-something-swap since Amanda has left us Toasty Toeless and Blooming Feetless!
