Back to School
I am making gloves. Finally. I wonder how many times over the past three years, I have written that goal on my blog...to learn how to make gloves.
Starting with the beautiful red Blue Sky Alpaca and Silk that Renee gifted me,
I cast on for the Vintage beaded gloves from Handknit Holidays.
The pattern doesn't have a thumb gusset, but, who am I to question? I started knitting glove #1. After doing some Ravelry research, and then seeing with my own glove how wonky it fit without a thumb gusset, I set about to make some modifications.
Frogged them. The family at our Labor Day picnic were all surprised to see that I was so willing to rip out what I had knitted. For me, it's about working through the stuff, and not just having a finished project. In school, I was a good student, and it was about working through the stuff to have the best project I could complete. So, I started over, and now, I am working in a thumb gusset.
The little twisted cable pattern on the cuff is very pretty.
Wish me luck through this project... I have about four different patterns in front of me as I'm knitting, trying to work through a step at a time, to knit the perfect gloves.
Always the student, right?
