Swatching. All weekend.
Moving right along on my "Build a Sweater " project.
I swatched the entire weekend.
Feather and Fan..
Compare the two?
I have a few different things going on here. The black swatch is a traditional six stitch repeat feather and fan, over four rows. Although I like the chunkier look, I'm thinking I'll need a bit more drape for this sweater. I swatched the black in Debbie Bliss Cashmerino Aran...more for the yarn content than the weight.
Green swatch is a worsted wool. In this swatch, I modified the FF pattern to a four stitch repeat. I moved the purl row under the eyelet row, and threw in a few more rows to work the repeat over six rows.
Like this:
Row 1 k1,* k2t (2 times) yo, k1 (4 times), k2t (2 times)* repeat.
Row 2 Purl
Row 3 Knit
Row 4 Purl
Row 5 Knit
Row 6 Purl
I'm leaning toward this one.
Yarn is the next question. I am craving Debbie Bliss Cashmerino DK. Craving it, I tell you. I've actually bought two different yarns this week, and they aren't doing it for me. I may have to go with a simple wool for budget reasons, but I'm open to suggestions!

I like the green one better too.

Yup, I agree. The green one just looks prettier!

I like the green one, too. I think it looks more like the sweater. I don't have any yarn suggestions for you, though. I need to learn more about yarn.

I am finally catching up on my blog reading!!! Wow, you are moving right along with this. I like your modified feather and fan - go with that.
Hmm. Yarn. I like the worsted better than the aran, which should leave you with many choices (I think). I agree with Jody that silk blend would be nice.

I like the worsted weight swatch better. It looks more feather and fan-ie to me. :)
Is the silk/merino blend from KP ww? I can't remember. That might be a good option though - it's nice and drapey.

Oh I am just learning to substitute. I don't know! But I like the look of the green one most. Thanks for the body lotion best. I may need to ask Santa for some.
