Two of the books I got before vacation are baby related. I couldn't resist, but then, this is a practical purchase because we always need a sweet baby gift don't we?
The first is a Louisa Harding's "Enchanted Garden" book. So stinking adorable, with sweaters with names like "Jam Sandwich " and "Tweexel." The second book is equally enchanting.
"Little Sublime Handknit Book." The pictures of the babies alone are just delicious. I do find it hard to read the patterns. Not because they are ill-written, but because the text is a very soft gray color on white. Regardless, this sweater, called "Sunday Lunch" is the first of three sweaters that I am knitting for new babies. I worked it in Sublime Baby Cashmere Merino Silk DK, which I just could not resist. It is lovely, lovely yarn.
Interesting things are developing with my "Build a Sweater." I am sooooo glad to be back at it!
After working the rows of modified feather and fan, I changed to a simple eyelet mesh. There will be a draw sting that will thread through the last row of eyelets, which is just above my natural waistline ( the smallest part on our torsos, so say Stacey and Clinton). From there, I have changed to seed stitch, and started a series of increases that will take me up to the armhole shaping. I know that the original pattern is a linen stitch bodice, and after much thought, I decide to go with a seed stitch since the linen stitch uses more yarn.
I couldn't be more pleased....I am not, however, that pleased with my new camera...a Kodak M883. I'm having the hardest time getting decent pictures. The jury is still out on it. I've had problems with not only the camera, but the software...even after getting support. So instead of getting all caught up on my blog reading, I'm dealing with my camera issues.
That's my whine for the day. Could I have some cheese with that?

That is a gorgeous baby sweater, Lynne! And your "Build a Sweater" looks great. You've been doing a lot of knitting lately!

With another grandchild due in May, I can see that I "need" several more baby books!

In my humble opinion, Kodak (and HP) digitals are historically difficult cameras to get pictures with, and not very user friendly. Did you just buy it? Do you have a chance to exchange it? I know they are a little more expensive, but there are some inexpensive low end Sony's that are really good. One of the major differences is that Sony uses a really high quality lens, whereas most Kodaks actually have a plastic lens.
But that is just my two cents worth!

What kind of cheese would you like?

The Build a Sweater is coming along nicely. I like it that you are making the pattern your own, instead of worrying about how to copy the original exactly (which is what I would have done because I am a control freak!).

That is just about the sweetest baby sweater I've seen in a long time. And cashmere? Wow! Your sweater design is looking great.

Well, at least you post FOCUSED images. I settled for fuzzy today. I love the baby sweater. So sweet and feminine. Too bad I can't have a baby for you to give it to! hahahha

I have the Sublime mohair pattern book and I noticed the same thing -- very pale gray lettering in the booklet. My eyes are pretty good so it's not just you!!
Your build a sweater is coming along so nicely. I hope you can work out your camera issues soon.

Tres adorable! We don't have a lot of baby gifts yet, still in the wedding gift stage. I had a small stash of booties, but my daughters wiped them out for co-workers.

Gorgeous baby sweater...I wish I had more friends having babies but now I'm at the point I'll have to wait for friends to have grandchildren.
It occurred to me that the light gray text on the white might be intentional...they don't want people making xerox copies (kind of like Fiber Trends printing on dark paper).
My camera is an older Kodak digital...fine for snapping photos of the kids but not good for catching how pretty my knit object is or getting a true closeup detail. I've learned to photograph without a flash and to take a far away photo and zoom in while editing them later on.

I was just wondering about your build a sweater the other day. Thanks for the update, and I can't wait to see the finished sweater!

Can you exchange the camera? Might be worth inquirining......the user reviews on cnet for this model are pretty negative.....

What adorable little inspiration, I just love the books! =)
Re: cameras, I used to have a Kodak but didn't like it all, the picture quality just wasn't there. I switched to Canon and I'm much happier, the cybershot is a great one for regular pics and if you want to get all fancy with a slr I love my Rebel =) Not trying to enable you or anything!

Be careful you don't make babies want to come out too soon! If only they could see this sweater . . .
