Brag on Your Husband Day.
Hmmm... I had saved an entire post as a draft, and it's gone. Like my Latvian Mittens, gone.
I have to take a moment to brag on my husband. Not only does he find my coffee cup when I've lost it, and not only does he gather up my many pairs of shoes that are laying around the house, but he also builds the most incredible things.
So today is Brag on Your Husband Day.
JR and I put our collective minds together, talked and sketched for months, and JR was able to take what was in our imaginations and build a media and book storage unit for our TV room. He did it with his own brain and hands!
I'm so proud of my husband. I got up extra early this morning just to look at it. He is making me wait to load the shelves until the finish is extra hard, which is very difficult for me to do. The doors are a pair of antique shutters, with their original finish, which JR was able to incorporate into the design. He is so awesome.
Another of the baby sweater projects is nearing completion.
I'm using some CottonEase that I had in my stash, and sort of winging it, using a base pattern from the Louisa Harding book.
Build a Sweater? Almost done with the back, after deciding that my first attempt was one big swatch. I cast on again. Since it will have a drawstring, it needed more swing in the bottom half than what I had done in the original attempt.
And as soon as I finish that baby sweater, I'll be starting this cardigan from Garnstudio designs:
Actually, I really need to talk about the fact that I have lots of unfinished projects. Particularly three sweaters, which I really like, but have set aside. What is it with all of our projects on hold? I guess it's just the way it is with us....always something new to fall in love with.

Lynne, JR is a genius! What a beautiful entertainment center. I know you are anxious to load those shelves, but JR is right, better wait until they are completely dry. I love the baby sweater--especially that little collar--so cute. The "build a sweater" is coming right along. I especially like the bottom design. You've been a busy lady!

Except husbands, right? I think you've got enough to love in just him! Great work, both of you, on your collective "building projects." One working with wood, the other with yarn. What a great combo.

Lynne - JR's handiwork is certainly an heirloom!! It is very lovely!!
I have to ask - where did the Latvian Mittens go?? Did you send them back to Latvia???
Hope you are staying warm!

I love brag on your husband day. I think too often it's tempting to voice complaints and muffle the praise. Thank you.
And I love the Drops Cardi with the mixed buttons.

I could devote an entire blog to nothing else but bragging on my husband! I'm glad to hear more people praise their spouses instead of how on TV the husbands are always such idiots! Nicely done JR!

Now wait a minute. Don't I see speakers already in that media center! So, he can have his toys, but you can't put up yours??
What an awesome hubster!

My husband is a wonder. I am a housewife. He works a very stressful job working at, let's just say, "cleaning the streets". I hate to cook...HATE to cook. Sometimes when he comes home from work I will say to him, "Honey, will you make supper?" And he says "Of course". NO hesitation! All he wants is for me to love him. And I do. He appreciates and loves me. I appreciate him. We are blessed beyond measure and we know it.

Isn't it a good thing that we're more faithful to our husbands than our projects?? Tell hubby job well done on the entertainment unit. My hubby made one for me many years ago and I love looking at it and appreciating that it came from his own hands.

Great media center, Lynne and JR! For me, I leave sweaters unfinished because they seem too big. I've always done better with smaller, quicker projects.

What a beautiful cabinet! JR is certainly very talented, and so are you!! You are perfect for each other.
Your sweater looks lovely with the scalloped bottom design. Will you post the pattern when you're done?

I love brag about your husband day.
Okay. He's brought the car around for me at the grocery store b/c it is 11 degrees out. I didn't ask him, he is galant. I hope my son is learning to be a gentelman too.
My husband will also go pick up my son from school so I can stay in!
He knows my back is bothering me and told me to schedule a massage. We are SOOOO lucky to have our knights in shing armor.

That's a very talented husband you have there!
I understand about the ufo's. I have a lot less of them today than I did yesterday. :)
