Our Yarn Shop Adventure was everything we had hoped it would be.
The back seat full of knitters,
Denise at the wheel,
and the trusty GPS made for a flawless and fun day. Thanks to Bookish Wendy for her advice. The Rochester stores were great. We visited Knit n Purl ( they had a fabulous sock yarn selection), Village Yarn and Fiber (my new fave...they had a fabulous book and pattern selection, and a nice, spacious floor plan) and Spirit Works ( they are just plain sweet and friendly at this shop, and they have Blue Sky Alpacas...always a plus for me!). And we shopped, you bet.
I think I rather disappointed my posse...when I'll I purchased for the day was this Lorna's Laces sock yarn, to make my May Day socks
They are for... shhhhhhhh...it's a secret!
I think the girls all expected much more from me, which ultimately prompted a full confession on my part. I shopped a LYS clearance sale ("Yarn it All" in Pendleton is going out of business) the day before and bought this
( a sweater's worth of Sublime)
and this
( sweater's worth of Berroco Touche').
All of the above quickly settled in to the stash closet...where prying eyes would never know how long it's been there!
(you know what I'm saying, girls..."oh, this yarn? I've had it awhile. Or so. Whatever.")

See you just need a partner with more expensive habits. Any idea how much yarn I can buy to equal the pair of skis that were purchased yesterday? ;)

Hey I am with the the first blogger here:) My husband is an avid scuba diver and one piece of equipment usually costs 500 to a 1000 or so. So this is the perfect excuse--although he's on to me on how expensive my yarn is.

We all know how to act like we've had the yarn forever! Glad you had fun on your day out.

Sneaky Lynn, very very sneaky. Shows you are crafty in more ways than one :O)
Looks like you had a wonderful time. I love the color of that blue Touche. It is going to look GORGEOUS!! I am trying to stay strong and not buy yarn because it is T minus 10 days until Stitches :O)

Yeah! So glad you had fun!! The book and pattern selection is my fav at Village Yarns too. Although - I think it is pared down a bit from the selection at Midtown. Which is a big boo-hoo. I could be wrong, it just feels like it might be.

Your new yarn looks gorgeous! I have some Sublime that I've been meaning to work with for...awhile. It's nice stuff. I love the bright colors, too - they remind me of spring (when it just got wickedly cold down here in NJ!)

I do the same thing...when a WEBS order or other yarn order comes, I quickly unpack it, put it in my yarn bookshelf and recycle the box. Husband is never any wiser.

I love the way you think! I got yarn in the mail today that I quickly mixed with my stash so it looks like it was always there. I envy your shopping spree. It's an hour's drive to a very small LYS and 2 hours to a nice one ...I have to order online.
I love the bathmat!

ooooo.....Sublime! I used that in a granny square afghan with Baby Cashmerino (the Sublime was the perfect shade of purple, and BCash didn't have a good one)...and loved it! Wonderful yarn. Can't wait to see what you do with it!

Yarn it all is going out of business? No kidding!

I am not entirely sure what you could possibly mean -- prying eyes? Hiding stash? Never! ;-)

There you go again, that last picture looking like a guess how many contest.

Sublime is some nice stuff. Too bad about the LYS, but certainly a sale that would be hard to pass up.
