I have to delay the reveal of my Builda Sweater. After much consideration, I decided to shorten the sleeves. So, I want her to be perfect before her debut. I will say that she's wonderful. Marvelous. Oh, so pretty! Instead of a ribbed trim on the neckline, I did a crochet shell edging. I think it works perfectly with the feather and fan lace that is at the bottom of the sweater.

This is my world.

Img_0155 I have cast on for the Debbie Bliss Diagonal Front Sweater.

Img_0157 It's such an interesting construction.

Img_0173  The sides are picked up a stitch at a time, forming diagonal fronts... thus the name, I guess.

Img_0177  Now that I've got the hang of it, it's such an easy pattern to follow.

I filled out a questionnaire for Savannah Chick, who is creating a new on-line knitting magazine, called Knotions. I was all over that. I love the idea of a new knitting resource. One of the things that I did mention is that I would like to see patterns that are a bit more classic. I love trendy, but I don't like to knit trendy.

Knitting a garment is a big investment of time and money, so I want to knit what I know will stay current across the seasonal trends.  I find that in the other on-line knitting resources, many of the patterns are not ones that I would choose, and I wonder who does knit them. It's awesome to find the free pattern that works for many of us, and will work for us for several years. I'm thinking Starsky, Blaze, Ivy  or  Jaywalker. You know what I'm talking about. They are that patterns that have such universal appeal that they take on a life of their own in blog-land. They are such good patterns that they almost create a trend of their own.  I love that kind of design.

What is your favorite free pattern?

Hey there! Before I lay me down to sleep, for a bit of an afternoon nap, I wanted to say hello and give you an update.

Surgery went well. So, I am now in a cast, and trying to relearn how to get a cup of coffee and take a bath, while on crutches. JR is in Utah, enjoying his annual ski trip (while recovering from the flu) so he only had the pleasure of taking care of me for a couple of days post surgery. You should have seen us. He was feeling so awful, I hated to impose upon him, and I was feeling so awful that he didn't want to impose himself upon me!  Thankfully, he was able to get on his flight on Saturday, just as my first caretaker arrived!

Katie spent the last three days with me. She tells me I sound like Meryl Streep in "The Devil Wears Prada." Ice water! Blanket! Laptop! A Brownie! Coat!

I'm really not that bad. Really. It flat out stinks having to depend upon someone else. I am a multitasking woman, able to order pizza while I'm vacuuming between laundry loads before choir practice.  Yesterday, I asked her to bring me the vacuum cleaner so I could give it a try. On crutches. No weight bearing on my right foot. She brought me the vacuum, then sat on the sofa with that "this ought to be good" look on her face,  to see just what I was made of.  It wasn't good at all. I wasn't made of much.  But I realized just how lucky I am to have had Katie here with me.

Today, Lisa came over to spend some time with me, making lunch and getting stuff for me.

Tonight, my mom and my knit pals are bringing pizza. The rest of the week, it's just Moses and me.

But right now, I need a nap. Thank you all for your prayers and well wishes....don't you know how much that means to me?

Tomorrow, I have a special something to reveal....My Build a Sweater is complete!
