I have to delay the reveal of my Builda Sweater. After much consideration, I decided to shorten the sleeves. So, I want her to be perfect before her debut. I will say that she's wonderful. Marvelous. Oh, so pretty! Instead of a ribbed trim on the neckline, I did a crochet shell edging. I think it works perfectly with the feather and fan lace that is at the bottom of the sweater.
This is my world.
I have cast on for the Debbie Bliss Diagonal Front Sweater.
It's such an interesting construction.
The sides are picked up a stitch at a time, forming diagonal fronts... thus the name, I guess.
Now that I've got the hang of it, it's such an easy pattern to follow.
I filled out a questionnaire for Savannah Chick, who is creating a new on-line knitting magazine, called Knotions. I was all over that. I love the idea of a new knitting resource. One of the things that I did mention is that I would like to see patterns that are a bit more classic. I love trendy, but I don't like to knit trendy.
Knitting a garment is a big investment of time and money, so I want to knit what I know will stay current across the seasonal trends. I find that in the other on-line knitting resources, many of the patterns are not ones that I would choose, and I wonder who does knit them. It's awesome to find the free pattern that works for many of us, and will work for us for several years. I'm thinking Starsky, Blaze, Ivy or Jaywalker. You know what I'm talking about. They are that patterns that have such universal appeal that they take on a life of their own in blog-land. They are such good patterns that they almost create a trend of their own. I love that kind of design.
What is your favorite free pattern?
