Special Delivery! When one's swap partner happens to be your knitting partner, your gym partner and a friend, one gets EXTRA Special Delivery! Denise managed to keep her May Day identity a secret from me for weeks and weeks! And yesterday, while I was in my own house, She left a big ole package at my back door! What a surprise to let Moses out and find it! AND to find out it was Denise.
I practically selected the yarn that I wanted, I tried on my own socks, and they were blocked on my very own size eight blockers which she borrowed! And I never knew that she was knitting those socks for me! How cool is that? Not to mention she packed up a ginormous basket of gardening goodies that I LOVE!
There is a hummingbird feeder and garden gloves. My favorite peonies and annual flower seeds. Beautifully knit Monkey Socks, too!
Perfect fit, perfect socks ( I knit the same socks for my pal, and just adored them, but I knew really that I would never knit these for myself because I don't knit socks for myself!)
Aren't they pretty? Thank you Denise!!!!!!
And for today's update.... JR and I went to Roswell on Friday. We are so thankful to have this incredible facility be our first option for treatment. On the downside, however, it appears after review of his case and biopsies that the cancer is a bit more aggressive than what we had hoped. He will have some bone scans and CT scans in a few weeks, and surgery is scheduled for June 4th (the earliest date). It could be likely there will be follow-up with additional radiation. But today is today, and we are still thankful, optimistic, and determined to enjoy this day's blessings. Thank you again for your prayers and encouragement.
Please let the man in your life know....DRE and PSA.....don't delay!

My thoughts and prayers are with you and JR as you travel down this journey. We will all be here to support you both!

Ha! What a great swapper! So tricky!
And I'm sorry to hear that JR's cancer is at a more advanced stage than hoped for. At least it was caught at this stage, though, and not at a later one.
Sending you both good thoughts for getting through the next month...

Hi Lynne, sorry to hear JR's cancer is more aggressive, but I am relieved to hear that it's prostate, which has a much higher success rate than a lot of others. You are in my thoughts and prayers!!

What a fun surprise! Your pal must have enjoyed playing detective and being sneaky for a good reason. Those gardening treats are so perfect -- LOVE your peonies. I'd love to email you about gardening ideas when or if you feel up to it.
I'm so glad to hear you have a good place for treatment. You are both in my thoughts and prayers. And I hope this will encourage you, that my dad went for his checkup today and he's got the all-clear until his next checkup in August. He still has cancer in his lymph nodes, but his doctors are managing it, and thanks to God, he has had a normal and full life since his diagnosis in 2000. Big hugs to you.
