Sunday, I rode the Predator.
and lived to tell about it. And I didn't pee my pants. I also rode the new Moto Coaster, high five!)
We spent Father's Day with the kids at Darien Lake, mingling with the masses. I'm not sure when I transitioned out of the "amusement park" demographic, but I feel like at some point, I got too old for all of this.
I did my share of people-watching between trying to impress my grandsons on the thrill rides.
There were many loud and very public conversations which revolved around the discipline of children.
What would someone actually do with a life-sized stuffed Spider Man after they spent $345 on the Ring Toss to win it and then carried it around on their hip (like an over-sized toddler) the rest of their day at Darien Lake?
Don't grown women know that daisy dukes and halters are meant for the "not quite so mature" crowd? Actually, I probably wouldn't even like to see them even on the "not so mature" crowd. And, by the way, tattoos never look good on saggy boobs, ladies. Just my opinion.
I saw a families that could have bought a week's worth of groceries for four with what they spent on a bucket of cotton candy, a funnel cake, Dippin Dots and a corn dog.
But the good news is, I finished my pink sweater that day. I actually bound off the last stitch as we pulled into the driveway.
Very loosely based on "Marilyn's Not so Shrunken Cardi, " . Knit with Debbie Bliss Cathay, just inches less than ten skeins worth. My mods are:
( oh, Lordy, that is a hideous picture of me!)
I started with the pattern as written, until I reached the waist area. There, I inserted about 3’ of 1X1 ribbing.
The sleeves are elbow length, with about a 3” 1X1 ribbing to finish.
For the ruffle, I chose to knit it on instead of using Wendy’s crochet method. I simply picked up and knit about 3 stitches for every 4 down the front edge after finishing the button bands. I would say I went in about two rows in from the button band. After purling one row ( which was the back side of the ruffle) I knit into the front and back of each stitch. Purl back. Knit into the front and back of each stitch. Purl back. Bind off.
I'm pleased with my results and love my mods. Great little sweater!

Ooooh!!!! The pink turned out beautifully, and I truly love the ruffle. Loved your comments about the innappropriate clothing on older female crowd. While in Disneyland saw quite a lot of that, eeuuww... Love your buttons, glass or plastic, way cute...
Margaret.

Love the cute pink sweater! And of course it looks great on you. I didn't think it was a bad picture, by the way. The ruffle really makes it.
You must be an awesome Gma. riding roller coasters!

I love the sweater, very cute. I saw a woman with stiletto sneakers on at DL, she walked all over the place (with a huge inflatable hammer on her hip) in those things. They were at least 6 inches high...amazing...

Lynne - I must disagree. That is not a great sweater. It's an AWESOME sweater. What a great way to bring summer to knitting with such a cute flirty creation. I love it with the shirt and skirt - perfect for some crazy fun at the amusement park. Thanks for sharing. I get so many wonderful ideas from your 'fashion shows' pairing sweaters with other great creations. Thanks for all the inspiration.

You're a braver woman than I am. My hubby would LOVE to go to our Six Flags, but after being pregnant, I can't do fast rides.
The cardi is fantastic! Love the defined waist.

Beautiful, Lynne. So you have joined the ranks of the "Granny-go-go" group!!!! (That's what we used to call my mother---she was always a go-getter and still is at age 88) Yeah, Lynne!!!!!

As I sit here enjoying my morning coffee and visiting my favorite blogs....I see you in this beautiful sweater and the word amaze comes to mind quickly. Your knitting and sewing talents amaze me. I am a long time crocheter and very new sewer, but when I try knitting I get a headache. I feel like Jerry Lewis trying to knit. LOL
Have a great day,
Kim

Very nice ruffle Lynne.
Love your roller coaster images. and your interesting commentary. .....I love to hear opinions whether or not I agree with them. Sometimes I think we are too timid on our blogs.

I love the thought of you going on the roller coaster. They are my favorite rides. Even at 74 I still get a thrill at seeing them.I will never forget Chrystal Beach Park when I went on the roller coaster backwards. Those were the days. The oink sweater turned out great.
