Hot Patterns Wong-Singh-Jones Kyoto Skirt
When the pattern was first introduced, I wasn't sure I liked all the "stuff" going on with it, but I was no less intrigued with the design. Then Trudy did one of those fabulous Youtube Videos, describing the design, construction and ways you can change the pattern. Add to that, a Super Hot Patterns July Pattern Sale, and I knew I had to make this skirt.
The challenge of the construction details was too much for me to pass up.
I got a great price on some designer sueded stretch cotton at Fabric.Com, and cut the pattern according to my measurements. I didn't make any modifications at all, and it was a perfect fit (of course, the elasticized waistband with a back zipper closure helped!)
It has dimensional cargo pockets
It also has a very interesting yoke detail which makes this so much more than just an a-line looking skirt.
An AMAZING godet at the back, which swings a bit when walking...very sexy, says JR.
There are multiple rows of top-stitching in many places...the yoke, the pocket flap, the hem, the godet. I ended up using a twin needle to do much of it.
And, it has a contrast hem facing, which I love. I'm wearing a bit of Meghan's dress in my skirt. I really do think of her every time I wear it!
I've already purchased some ivory twill to make another one...without the godet.
This skirt looked great with several different tops, including both of my Green Gables sweaters. I know I'll get to wear it a lot.
