It never fails. when I knit in bed before I go to sleep, I get my cables crossed. Never fear, I caught it before I had to rip back too many rows or do the old snip and fix like January One's tutorial (which, by the way is one of the best blog tutorials I have ever read or seen).
I was able to just reknit my cable rows.
And move on.
(not sure what exactly happened with the color in the last picture)
So, the Katharine Hepburn sweater is moving right along, much like the actress herself, a prickly and determined lady
I am also working on a vest,
And I am toying with the idea of starting Bridget, from "Rowan Vintage Style". I've had the yarn for a few years, and I am in love with the pattern, which is a fairisle cardigan in two colors. "Vintage Style" has to be one of my favorite knitting books. I never tire of glancing through it, and I imagine knitting just about everything.
Last night, we were invited to go to a Friends and Family special event at a Barnes and Noble grand opening. Of course, I immediately went to the knitting section. Is it me or is there not alot available right now in knitting books? Do you have a favorite new book? I'd love some suggestions.
Any way, I left BN without buying a thing. But I am going back tonight because I have a 15% off coupon...
I didn't know that there was a new B&N on Transit. I usually prefer Borders by the Galleria. As far as books go, Knitting Classic Style by Veronik Avery is my new favorite.

I bought Victorian Lace Today the other day. There wasn't anything else that really caught my eye. But there is a new pincushion book coming out (Pretty Little Pincushions) and a new accessories book coming out (Knitting Little Luxuries: Beautiful Accessories) that I want to check out.
Your projects are looking great!

It's not you....it's Barnes and Noble! Our local store has cut back rather dramatically on their knitting, crochet and quilting books. Someone ought to fire their buyer.

Not you, I find too little to buy right now. I was not impressed with Folk Style, the new IK Bags book was OK, and most others have not even caught my eye. But I am also feeling that way about patterns too. I guess we are waiting for the next big movement in style. Garnstudio is the one place I know I will find something that interests me.

Did you really cut your mistake out?! Wow, I really need to go read that tutorial. My mouth is hanging open....

I need to post my book reviews, but I got a couple of new books I really like. The first is "Kaffe Knits Again". I love Kaffe Fassett and these are his old patterns, but they are re-done in different garments and newer, updated colorways. It's just gorgeous. I also really love "The Knitter's Book of Yarn." Not a ton of patterns, but so much fantastic information about yarn.

I just got a great new book at my lys - and blogged about it.
love the cabled cardigan.. and Kate Hepburn was always one of my heros... pricky and determined - yeah. :-)

Firefox fixed my commenting problems. I'd be back there, too, with a coupon. I have a hard time paying full price for books. Or anything, except yarn, maybe.

I agree, Barnes and Noble cut back dramatically on the knitting section. And, don't get me wrong, I crochet, too, but instead of increasing the space for more crochet books, they decreased the knitting space. My LYS does have a lot of knitting books; I buy there sometimes too. And I've purchased books from KnitPicks, too.

Hepburn looks great- good job on the cable redo. How scary that must have been!
I have yet to find a bookstore or LYS that carries precisely what knitting book I am looking for. So, I have either been looking at the library's catalogue or adding to my Amazon wishlist!

I don't usually find that many of the new knitting books at B&N or other book stores. I have better luck at my LYS or Overstock.
Like the new Hepburn Cardigan, very nice.

Those are some pretty cables. I haven't checked out new books in a while, so i have no idea what's out there. Hope you get some good ideas!

I love Mason Dixon Knitting, but you probably already have it. My pal Sue just gave me a great lace book and I have never made lace. I always collect baby patterns. This is probably not helping. One of my favorite non knitting books is Fifty Acres And A Poodle by Jeanne Marie Laskas~REALLY great!

Hmmmmm, I like sock books.......I don't really have a favorite book. I have patterns....
GOod luck using that coupon. Just think, if you don't buy anything, you have that much more yarn money.....just sayin!
My swap stuff is coming along! Al helped me with a great theme! i was stuck for awhile but not now! !

You left the B&N without buying anything?! That's amazing! I love to look at their selection of knitting magazines, too. I bought a book at the B&N last weekend. It's a new knitted toys book, which I enjoy doing (when time permits -- ugh).

It's funny Lynne, I was just telling my friend at lunch today about a mistake I made because I was knitting late last night and was tired. That is always my downfall. I'm glad you were able to fix your mistake. I can't wait to see the whole Katherine Hepburn Sweater. It looks like it will be gorgeous!
I agree with you about books. I buy a lot of them, and there just isn't much out there new right now. My LYS owner assures me that there are several new titles on the way. If you hear of anything good, I'd love to know of it!e

i am not allowed to knit in bed. Michael is afraid I will fall asleep and put an eye out. This is probably a valid concern. But I love the Hepburn sweater! I am so glad that there was no harm done.
