Ten on Tuesday.
Ten ways to get through the rest of winter?
1. have a romantic picnic inside.
2. Read a big fat juicy novel. A few of my favorites?
"Sacajawea," by Anna Lee Waldo
"Pillars of the Earth," by Ken Follet
"Tess of the d'Urbervilles," by Thomas Hardy
3. Write a poem or a limerick or a haiku each week. Need inspiration? Check out my new favorite blog buddy, Jingle, who gets my creative juices going daily.
4. Plan and execute a room mini-makeover....our most recent? A bathroom on a budget. Free paint, free sink, new counter-top over a JR-resurfaced vanity, a few repainted auction finds and some chrome hand me down accessories. Oh, add a 1/2 price shower curtain, too!
5. Cook something new and different. I love anything published by Cook's Illustrated. It's like having cooking lessons right in your own home.
6. Hold off garden cravings with a fresh pot or vase of something floral each week.
7. Knit one last pair of mittens or start a sweater for Spring. I have a sweater sized stash of red Debbie Bliss Cathay that just wants to be something.
8. When cabin fever sets in, organize CD's and make some ITunes play-lists. Then, turn up the music and dance.
9. Find a need in your community and commit to fulfilling it.
10. Enjoy every last bit of winter possible...the frosty temperatures, walks during snowfall, the wonder of a snowflake, the massive weight of a huge snowstorm. The fireplace, soup, hot chocolate and reddened cheeks after shoveling.
Thank you, Lynne. I really needed this this morning. xo
