Man, oh, man, what a busy week. But, it's all good.
Would you like to see my version of the Ralph Lauren Military Jacket? Remember, I saw it in an issue of InStyle magazine and just had to have it. I finished it last weekend, after much fitting and refitting. I did not make a muslin for this one, and boy, did it ever cost me time. But I am happy with the end result.
The basic pattern used was Simplicity Threads 3628. I fiddled with the neckline, combining a few different views to make it work, Tim Gunn.
My version is unlined, so I simply finished the seams with bias binding. I added the shoulder epaulets, and a little decorative piece to the back neck:
After the photo shoot, I ended up tacking down the epaulets. Much better.
Do I like the jacket? But of course!
Great jacket, thanks for the photo shoot and the detail shots. You look fantastic in your new jacket.

I bought this pattern ... think I need to make it military in style, too. Teaching at a pacifist college, I do like to tweak them once in awhile! ;) (Since you don't know me, I'm not being sarcastic here!)

Great Jacket! I seriously just pulled this pattern out last night as a possible next project. I even thought about using black denim. Yours is so nice. I really am inspired to make one of my own.
