I'm not exactly sure why this happened. I took the next two pictures within seconds of each other at about 7:30 at night. It makes me know that I would love to take a photography class.
Anyway, it's my beloved weeping Redbud tree. And it occurred to me that I had fabric that reminded me of these pictures. So I made another HotPatterns Boho Deluxe Peasant Top.
I added some under the bust detail by gathering about 8" worth or the front with elastic, and then added a self-fabric rosette, beaded in the center.
I really love this pattern. I know, I know, a girl like me shouldn't wear a peasant top. But, the Hotpatterns peasant top is so nicely cut. It's not as billowy...with a more shaped bodice, and not too many gathers. I typically don't wear this type of top alone, but under a sweater or jacket, so it works for me...especially if I emphasize the high waist area by drawing it in with some sort of embellishment.
My own Redbud top!
You have an incredibly beautiful yard!
As for the difference in the two photos, the second one is illuminated with a flash and the light's falloff was quite dramatic so the flash didn't light up the background too. Were you using a macro setting on your camera?

I love your redbud top! The colours are very pretty - and suit you very well. This style looks lovely, easy to wear but, as you say, not too billowy.

Love that shirt! The colors are gorgeous and the detail is so fun!
Isn't taking pictures in the garden fun-slash-maddening?? I swear, my roses have NEVER photographed in real-life color!!

I just love your top. It is like your photos for certain. I love the gathered middle and rosette. You look so great in everything you sew Lynne.

Many years ago, over thirty when my daughter was not yet born, I bought her father a Canon AE1 camera. It was the one and only item he ever truly wanted. We have been divorced since she was a senior in high school, but to my surprise, Ex has kept and treasured that camera. He has taken many great pictures with it. he also has told me he has taken quite a few with a throw away and it does not matter so much the camera as the eye of the one holding the lens. And it is so true. I don't know what kind of camera you use, but you take really nice pictures! And nice things to photograph!
