The blue ikat dress. Vogue 1236. Now, this is a cute summer dress. I think.
My only modifications? Full Bust Adjustment. and a few darts in the back. If I were to make it again, I would raise the neckline, and lengthen it a bit.
I'm just not sure if I like it. This morning, the girl at Panera said she liked it. One of my co-workers liked it enough to mention it. But as the day went on, I had to wonder if it's too much print for this dress, for me. What do you think? Maybe if I wore a contrast belt instead of the self fabric tie belt?
Best thing about this pattern? ? No zippers, cool style, good basic or funky print dress. It was also in the Vogue "very easy" catagory, which it was...VERY easy. I think it took me about two hours to make it.
Go ahead, make one! I just may have to give it another try.
At least this print hides the teardrops...just finished watching the finale' of Oprah.
I just finished this dress in the same print (yellow tones) for my daughter.

I really like the dress, it looks great on you. The cardigans looks so pretty with the print and I bet some of your denim jackets would be great, too. I do like the self-fabric belt but a contrast belt would work too.

Where have you been finding all this great fabric?

I think that dress is fantastic! Where did you get the fabric (so I can blatantly copy it? :)

You look so cute in this dress, I like it best with the white cardi.

I like it. I also like it with the same fabric belt - a contrast belt would break up the bigger print, which IMO is not a good thing. I don't think the print is too big for you but it's your own comfort level that's important, not what anyone else says. The white cardi/tank is the way to go.

I love it just the way it is. what kind of undershirt are you wearing under it? I need a few of those....it is white in one image and black in the next..

No, not too much print for you. It is lovely. I especially like it with the white sweater and cami. It draws the colors out a diffeent way and looks so cool and comfy.

I like the self-fabric tie. It makes a waist shape without drawing incriminating arrows.

It's not too much print. Every now and then you need something that will pop.

I agree not too much print at all...especially when you pair it with the black cardi!

i love this dress! and you look awesome in it :)

I think you should ditch the belt altogether. Between the sweaters and the empire placement of the belt, it emphasizes your lower half. I'd wear this with a tee under it, sort of like a jumper, and have it unbelted. That would give you a bit more length which I think would be more flattering.

I must have been nursing the baby when I first read this and forgot to go back and comment. This is such a pretty dress, Lynne. The fabric and fit and breezy feeling make it the perfect summer dress. I think you should make a few more!
