Inspired by this:
(Anthropologie Loosened Shelby Blouse)
I decided to make this:
(wearing it with Vogue8603 denim skirt)
The fabric is very cool.. It reminds me of a Monet painting.
The fabric is a rayon knit with a linen texture that I found at fabric.com. I've never seen anything like it, actually. It has that knit stretch but looks like a woven.
The base pattern for a this tunic was Burda 7509. For the style, hemline and neckline, it was a perfect choice, and it was already in my pattern stash. I did not cut it on the bias, however.
I modified the armhole and redrafted a short kimono style sleeve instead of adding rufffles to the sleeve. I have a tee from Gap that I LOVE, which has exactly the kind of sleeve that I wanted, so I just traced over that one, and created my own pattern.
The neckline has a self ruffle, and I bound the neckline with bias binding.
And lo, the Anthropologie Inspired Tunic.
What would I have done differently? Ordered more fabric, so I could make it longer, maybe a little looser...more tunic style, and perhaps I would have changed the width of the neck ruffle to make it narrower. Well, then. I guess I have to make another one.
It's Friday. It's sunny. and I am SO looking forward to the weekend after a somewhat challanging week.
You have captured the look and style of your inspiration garment perfectly. I love the colours of the fabric - as you say, very Monet!

You did a fantastic job recreating that Anthropologie top. I just bought some similar sounding fabric. It's lovely, isn't it?

I love that Anthro top and fabric you used. I kept looking at it before, but never ordered it. Now I need to! You did such a great job recreating it, so I'm going to have to do the same! Thanks for the inspiration!!!
